Winter/Spring Semester 2025
eager to share our finalized plans for the Spring 2025 classes and activities at the farm.
This semester, we focus on the benefits of gardening by sharing techniques that emphasize natural and native practices. Horticulture was once absent from the K-12 curriculum, but there is now a greater emphasis and more resources available.
Students will have an engaging educational experience with this unit study and explore how gardening plays an important role in our communities through practical activities in gardening, farming, and forestry. They will learn about Agroforestry, which integrates trees, crops, and livestock on the same land, and Silvopasture, which combines trees, forage, and livestock grazing. These innovative methods optimize land use and offer numerous benefits. Nearby, at Nemours, Silvopasture has been successfully implemented with cattle in a newly established pine grazing area.
